A03-300 Series Heli Genset Hybrid

The RED A03-300 series is a derivative of the proven RED A03-003 engine model without a reduction gearbox. The 300 series provides maximum versatility for different propulsion solutions such as Hybrid Electric, Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), Generators or Helicopter applications.

A03 type design is certified in compliance to EASA CS-E / TYPE-CERTIFICATE-DATA-SHEET No.: E.150.

  • Dry-sump oil system.
  • Designed for lean maintenance.
Normally included:
  • FADEC & electric looms
  • Engine starter
  • incl. oil tank and heat exchanger

A03-20x Series High Altitude

The RED A03-200 series is a derivative of the proven RED A03-003 engine model, developed for very high-altitude operation. This variant can be combined with the 500 and 550 hp power versions.

The 200-Series is equiped with the NORMAL category gearbox as the complexity of the aerobatic oil distribution is rather uncommon in high altitudes.

A03 type design is certified in compliance to EASA CS-E / TYPE-CERTIFICATE-DATA-SHEET No.: E.150.

A03-102 Series Aerobatic

The 100 series engine model is designed for advanced trainer and aerobatic aircrafts. The engine is approved for high positive-& negative g-load factors, high angular rotation velocities and inverted flight.

This gearbox variant can be combined with the 500 and 550 hp power versions as well as high altitude mission layouts.

A seperate oil reservoire suitable for the designed mission profile and connecting pipes need to be considered in the design process.

A03 type design is certified in compliance to EASA CS-E / TYPE-CERTIFICATE-DATA-SHEET No.: E.150.

A03-00X Series Normal cat

The A03 with the standard gearbox for NORMAL category aircraft, commuters and agricultural aircraft. The core design feature is regular operation, non-inverted, regular g-load considerations. This gearbox variant can be combined with the 500 and 550 hp power versions as well as high altitude mission layouts.

As the gearbox is integrating the oil management, this installation is needs less installation consideration and less 3rd party system integration.

A03 type design is certified in compliance to EASA CS-E / TYPE-CERTIFICATE-DATA-SHEET No.: E.150.

Cowling

All the other parts are about strength and dimensions. The cowling is different. Lightweight but strong. Aerodynamic but fitting. Airframe design integration, still doing it’s job. Providing system air flow as intended.

Air intake

Just like the other parts of the Firewall Forward kit design process, also the air guiding tunnel is a task of it’s own. The sufficient amout of air streaming into the system corresponds to the volume of air streaming out. Tractor and pusher airframe types have different requirements here and again, parasitic drag effects need to be included into the overall target design.

Cooling

Installations from the central air intake channel to the cooling for the water and air system. The expansion tanks need some attention and the fuel lines from and to the tanks require consideration and the sufficient dimensions. We are offering 3D-CAD design service in a very close cooperation between the design specialists on both sides inside our EASA certified DO.

Engine Mount

The framework to attatch the engine to the airframe is a complex part, holding the engine even in a high g-load condition and isolating the airframe against vibration. We are offering 3D-CAD design service as well as production facilities to supply the engine mount as a checked product within our QC procedures. As the engine mount effects the parasitic drag considerations in the aircraft design, a very close cooperation between the design specialists on both sides is required and can be assured inside our EASA certified DO.
